Our 6 week course is a series with curated KJC content, each session building upon the previous providing all participants with the basic foundation of Booty Dance for beginners. Once Level I is completed, students can proceed to our intermediate and advanced levels.
For all of our new students, we offer a pre-class session reviewing the origins and history of these dances as well as an anatomy review of the pelvis and pelvic floor and its implication in the twerk movement. This way we assure that all the participants have the resources necessary to contextualize their experience within this movement culture, avoid injuries and optimize their mind-body connection before participating in the sessions.
Our goal is to provide a supportive space where we can learn to move freely and fearlessly within our bodies always with corporal awareness, historical context and with respect to the creators of the culture. To open up the dialogue with our root chakra, converting the pelvis and the booty into a healthy, normalized and pleasurable zone.
